Bleaching: a technique where the teeth are whitened with custom-made trays that fit over your teeth. These trays hold the solution next to the teeth to lighten the enamel. While the process may be called bleaching, the material does not contain bleach of any kind. Results are usually seen within 7 to 21 days.
We also offer Crest Whitestrips that can be purchased at our office today.
Bonding: Uses of Bonding Bonding is a term used to describe a number of procedures that involve applying composite resins to the tooth. It can be used strictly for cosmetic purposes or to repair or protect the tooth. Regardless of its use, bonding can provide an attractive result. Some common uses are Closing gaps and repairing chips and cracks,Protecting exposed roots, and Restoring decayed teeth.
Bridges: Few incidents have greater impact on dental health and personal appearance than tooth loss. When one or more teeth are missing, the remaining teeth can drift out of position, which can lead to a change in the bite, the loss of additional teeth, decay and gum disease. When tooth loss occurs, your dentist may recommend the placement of a bridge. A bridge is one or more replacement teeth anchored by one or more crowns on each side.
Caps-Crowns: Crowns are restorations that cover or cap teeth, restoring them to their natural size, shape and color. Even a poorly maintained or badly damaged tooth can benefit from a well designed and correctly placed crown. This cap not only helps appearance, but can also save a tooth that might otherwise be lost.
Cleanings: For optimal oral health, you should visit a dental office once every six months for a cleaning by a dental hygenist and an exam by the dentist. This is a routine checkup that will help prevent decay and maintain good oral hygiene. A regular cleaning and exam lasts about 45 minutes. In this time period, the hygenist will clean and polish your teeth, explain any areas you may need to be aware of and answer any questions you may have. The dentist will see you at the end of your visit to read any x-rays you may have had taken and explain a course of action for your treatment.
Cosmetic Dentistry: If you are interested in straightening, whitening, or even an “extreme makeover”, our dental office can help. Services offered include veneers, crowns, inlays/onlays, composite resin fillings (tooth colored filling material), just to name a few. Please contact us to schedule a consultation with one of the dentists who will discuss your concerns and answer any questions you may have.
Dentures: For those who for various medical or economical reasons can not afford the implant supported prosthetics, full and partial dentures remain a viable alternative that we would be happy to discuss with you.
FILLINGS:
Composite Resin Fillings: There are no known health risks of receiving composite fillings. Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings. Tooth fillings colored to look like a natural tooth are known as Composite Resin Dental Fillings, are made of a plastic dental resin. Composite Resin Dental Fillings are strong, durable, and make for a very natural looking smile. Many dental insurance plans cover their use.
Amalgam Fillings: Amalgam fillings may contain mercury, and are often referred to as metal fillings. Their safety has been in question for a number of years due to concerns over the absorption of elemental mercury contributing to several diseases, including Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, dementia and arthritis. The FDA investigations have not proven that the minute amount of mercury vapors released from silver fillings is a health hazard. Amalgam fillings are a mixture of mercury liquid and small pieces of silver and other metals such as copper, tin and zinc.
Inlays and Onlays: If over half of your molar tooth's biting surface is decayed an inlay or onlay may be a better option than a filling. These options are basically for when more than a filling is needed but less than a crown will do. An inlay is placed in between the cusps of the tooth, whereas an only will cover one or more of the cusps. They can be made of a gold alloy, porcelain or tooth-colored resin and are cemented into place.
Gum Disease Treatment: The treatment of gum disease varies depending on the degree of involvement with the disease. Non-Surgical Therapy--Non-surgical therapy is called root planing. Root planing is where the gum tissues are usually anesthetized with a novocaine anesthetic and the dentist or hygienist will scrape the diseased tooth root until it is clean and no longer contains bacterial waste products. Root planing may sometimes be enhanced with antibiotics that are taken orally or placed into the gum "pockets". Not all cases of gum disease will have antibiotic enhancements as a part of their root planing therapy. After root planing, the gum tissues are usually tender or sore, but not usually painful. When the periodontist determines the gum disease aggressiveness, the periodontist can determine the modifications in the root planing treatments that best fit your case. Gum Surgery--Gum surgery is done to eliminate diseased pockets which still exist after all healing has been achieved following non-surgical root planing. There are however a small number of cases which will not benefit from non-surgical root planing and surgery will be recommended without having root planing done. Surgery is most frequently done with a novocaine local anesthetic. A periodontal dressing may be placed after the surgery in order to protect the tissues. There may be some pain after periodontal surgery.
When surgery is done and diseased tissue is removed, the teeth will usually have more root surface exposed. This amount of exposure represents the amount of root surface which lost its gum and bone support from the gum disease. The surgery is not causing unnecessary damage.
Implants: This is a wonderful new procedure that allows a dentist to permanently replace a missing tooth or teeth by attaching the implant directly to the jaw bone. This is done by surgically placing a metal post into the bone where the tooth is missing. After the area heals, a false tooth, also known as a crown, can be placed on the implant. Implants can also be used when there are no teeth present at all. In this situation, the denture is specially made to attach to the implants. This procedure greatly improves the stability and fit of the denture teeth.
Oral Surgery: We provide all types of oral surgery treatment in the comfort of our office including but not limited to biopsies, simple and complex (wisdom teeth) extractions, bone adjustments and guided soft and hard tissue regeneration.
Root Canal: If you would need a root canal, our office will be able to accommodate. As dental professionals, we know the feeling a patient has when they hear the dreaded words "you need a root canal". Fortunately, we live in the modern world where dental technology has come a long way! For a root canal procedure, the dentist will anesthetize you just as he / she would for a regular filling. Sure, it is a little more time in the schedule, but all in all, it feels the same as having a filling done. Please call if you have any concerns about needing a root canal, we would be happy to answer any and all questions.
Vaneers: A veneer is a cosmetic facing that is placed on the front of the tooth to give it a more esthetic appearance.
